Rather than separating fantasy and science-fiction conventions, the setting places magical imperial traditions beside scientific development, nuclear warfare, radiation-created mutants, and a ban on digital technology. Its central viewpoint also comes from ordinary schoolchildren drawn into a conflict spanning rival civilizations.
What is Dreams of Greatness?
Set in a parallel universe resembling Earth, the game follows a group of ordinary schoolchildren caught in events that threaten the existence of everything.
The Empire and Oceania have fought for generations: the Empire relies on magic and spiritual traditions, while Oceania advances science. Oceania launches nuclear weapons, but Emperor Zamran redirects most of the warheads with an ancient artifact called the Spiritual Brace. The attack devastates much of Oceania, while some missiles strike the Empire and create mutants. Years later, the Empire builds the Steel Shield, bans Western digital technology, and isolates itself from the ruined western lands. The story takes place in the Empire in the year 2037.
