Our take on Ratatan
Its rhythm-command design gives battlefield positioning and timing a central role, but that also makes combat less direct than conventional side-scrolling action. Players must manage movement, orders, and retreats while keeping pace with the soundtrack rather than relying only on attack inputs.
What is Ratatan?
Ratatan combines rhythm-game timing with side-scrolling action and roguelike structure.
Players use sequences matched to the music to direct Cobuns, deciding where to issue commands, how to position Ratatan, and when to retreat. Battles can include more than 100 characters in a large melee, with online co-op for up to four players. The adventure follows Ratatans from Rataport as they travel toward The Everafter in search of The Goddess. Ratatan can move freely while commands guide the Cobuns, making timing and battlefield positioning central to each encounter. The game presents its action with 2D animation and a soundtrack built around its rhythm mechanics.
