Our take on Scythe: Digital Edition
Players who want combat to drive every turn may hit a wall when the game asks them to develop their economy, recruit, and expand before committing to fights. The encounter cards and secret objectives also leave some variation in a game where combat itself is decided by player choices.
What is Scythe: Digital Edition?
Set in an alternate 1920s Europa after a major war, Scythe: Digital Edition puts players in command of one of five factions competing for influence around the Factory.
Players explore and claim territory, recruit units, gather resources, build structures, and deploy mechs. Factions begin with different resources, locations, and secret objectives, giving each a distinct starting position. The game centers on developing an economy and improving capabilities over time, with choices about when to expand or engage opponents. Combat is resolved through player decisions rather than chance. Encounters with people in newly explored lands use cards, and individual secret objectives add another variable to each game.
How Scythe: Digital Edition plays

- 02Economy development

- 03Choice-based combat
