Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a story-led adventure may find the repeated survival-run structure too limited

- Players who dislike twin-stick or multi-directional shooting may struggle with the central combat system
Our take on SALTWATER
The bounce point arrives when combat demands aiming bubbles in multiple directions while enemy waves close in. Players looking for a slower RPG progression system may also stop at the run cycle, where experience upgrades happen during play and pearls unlock content after the run.
What is SALTWATER?
Control a pistol shrimp in a top-down, 2D shooter set underwater.
Fire bubbles in multiple directions while surviving waves of enemies and collecting pearls from oysters across the map. Runs grant experience points for leveling up, with upgrades including higher attack damage and faster movement. Pearls collected during a run can be spent afterward to unlock additional shrimps and weapons. SALTWATER combines roguelite progression with action, casual, RPG, and strategy elements, using vector art alongside underwater photography.
How SALTWATER plays
- 01Multi-directional shooting
- The pistol shrimp fires bubbles around itself while facing underwater enemy hordes.
- 02Run-based progression
- Experience earned during a run increases the shrimp's level and provides choices that affect damage dealt or movement rate.
- 03Pearl unlocking
- Pearls gathered from oysters can be spent between runs on additional shrimps and weapons.
- 04Underwater presentation
- The game combines vector artwork with underwater photography in a top-down 2D format.
SALTWATER compared to similar games
SALTWATER uses multi-directional bubble shooting, enemy-wave survival, experience upgrades, and pearl-funded unlocks. NEOVERSE also uses roguelite progression but centers its play around deck building, strategy, and time-warping adventures rather than direct underwater shooting.
