As a SEED peacekeeper, players capture unruly creatures using a spell seal, complete assignments, and look into strange incidents tied to the natural order linking people and the environment. Dragons provide unusual plots for growing crops, and domesticated monsters can work on the farm. Leisure and town activities include preparing food, making items, fishing competitions, seasonal celebrations, and watching the stars. Marriageable residents each have their own narrative, and relationships can lead to marriage and raising a child. Battles support coordinated link techniques with Rigbarth companions. The Digital Deluxe Edition contains the base game plus 13 Rune Factory 4 character-themed costumes.
