Our take on Rune Bender VR
Players who struggle with gesture-based controls may hit the wall when drawing runes under pressure. Those seeking a slower progression system may also bounce off the repeated run structure, where each death ends the current attempt and upgrades are selected anew.
What is Rune Bender VR?
Rune Bender VR is a single-player virtual reality wave shooter with roguelike runs set in Slavic mythology.
Players defend the shrine of Veles from waves of creatures summoned by Perun, the god of thunder. Spells are cast by drawing runes on elemental Runepads and moving the hands. The game includes 16 elemental spells across fire, water, earth, and air, with upgrades chosen during each run to shape a build. Story Mode contains 15 waves, requiring players to match spells to creature weaknesses and respond to increasingly difficult attacks. Each run begins with basic magic, while deaths reset the attempt. Short sessions focus on reflexes, timing, and tactical choices. Endless Mode provides an additional challenge with a leaderboard.
