Our take on ROGUE-FP
The first-person, free-movement approach gives up the grid and rigid turn structure associated with classic roguelikes. That makes this a different kind of dungeon crawl, but it also removes those systems from play.
What is ROGUE-FP?
ROGUE-FP combines classic roguelike gameplay with first-person controls, smooth turning, and movement without a grid or rigid turns.
The quest is to enter the Dungeons of Doom, retrieve the Amulet of Yendor, and return to the surface. Each run takes place in procedurally generated dark labyrinths filled with monsters, traps, and magical items. Players identify items, including rings, weapons, potions, scrolls, and wands, while managing permanent death. The game also includes multiple bonus dungeons, ASCII-style sprites, a dungeonsynth soundtrack, and armor that can be modified with pieces taken from monsters. Difficulty settings include an option that removes item identification, and a gold hoard grows with each run.
