Our take on Claustrophobia: The Downward Struggle
Instead of fixed classes and a linear campaign, it uses classless stat and gear development inside procedurally generated dungeons. Turn-based encounters are paired with permadeath, making each hero’s fate part of the run.
What is Claustrophobia: The Downward Struggle?
Claustrophobia: The Downward Struggle is a tactical RPG roguelike focused on procedural dungeon exploration, classless character development, and turn-based combat.
Characters develop through customizable statistics, abilities, and equipment rather than fixed classes. Generated terrain, enemies, and gear shape the dungeon experience, while weapons, armour, and active items provide different abilities, statistics, and passive bonuses. Combat uses positioning, skill selection, and observation against enemies with varied abilities and modifiers, including teleportation, invisibility, and lifesteal. Permadeath makes each hero’s death part of the game’s structure. The game also includes scoring and leaderboards. Planned additions include linked story dungeons, bosses, traps, puzzles, crafting, achievements, and further character, item, and enemy options.
