Our take on River City Girls
The focus on beat-'em-up action gives less room to systems centered on broad exploration or role-playing progression. Local co-op is also limited to two players, rather than a larger multiplayer group.
What is River City Girls?
River City Girls is a beat-'em-up set across six city regions.
Kyoko and Misako fight through enemies with punches, kicks, weapons, throws, combos, special attacks, items, and abilities gained during play. The game supports solo play and local co-op for two players. Shops and side quests appear across the city, while power-ups add further combat options. Pixel-art visuals are paired with manga story panels, anime cutscenes, and a synth-pop soundtrack. Classic River City characters make guest appearances. A patch changes the input used for moving between areas and interacting with non-player characters, restores intended book effects for all characters, adjusts Riki's shadow combo, changes dialogue after the secret boss, and includes additional fixes.
