Our take on Redout: Space Assault
Its defining structure is the combination of arcade space shooting with free-flight exploration, racing segments, and dedicated encounters against capital ships.
What is Redout: Space Assault?
Pilot Leon Barret, a Poseidon Security Forces fighter during the 2395 colonization of Mars.
The single-player campaign mixes rail-shooter encounters, free-movement exploration, high-speed races, and missions against large capital ships. Combat involves rolling around incoming fire, launching missiles, managing boost, and using weapons such as plasma cannons, shock rays, railguns, scattershots, air-to-air missiles, and gatlings. Missions award Cards and Tokens that can improve the fighter’s hull, shields, energy weapons, and missiles, with equipment combinations suited to different play styles. The campaign follows Leon’s rise through the ranks while presenting conflicts involving rebels, pirates, scientists, and competing factions. Bonus objectives require additional skill, and a dynamic soundtrack changes as the challenge increases.
