Our take on Psychroma
Its focus on memory, atmosphere, and environmental puzzles leaves less room for broad exploration or action-heavy encounters. The house and its time-linked perspectives provide a concentrated setting, but players seeking varied combat systems or expansive world traversal may find the design limited.
What is Psychroma?
In this psychological horror game, guide Haze through a haunted home in a futuristic cyberpunk city.
Haze is an outcast who wakes without memories; search concealed passages and uncover the house’s history. Find memory cards belonging to three people: an underground cultist, a philanthropist, and a drifter. Each card opens access to that character’s memories and reality. A cybernetic system lets Haze travel through time and reach new sections of the house.
Digital spirits can take control of Haze, revealing other viewpoints while helping untangle memories and complete puzzles. Scenes offer objects and mechanisms to interact with, including levers, altars, and hidden items. Pixel art draws on restricted palettes and cyberpunk influences, while the experimental soundtrack takes cues from horror and cyberpunk films.
How Psychroma plays
- 01Memory card exploration
- Cards tied to three characters reveal their stored realities and contribute to Haze’s fractured memories.
- 02Time-based navigation
- A cybernetic card system allows movement through different periods and unlocks additional sections of the house.
- 03Digital possession
- Taking on digital ghosts provides alternate viewpoints for decoding memories and solving puzzles.
- 04Interactive environments
- Scenes include mechanisms, altars, and hidden objects that can be examined or activated.
- 05Cyberpunk pixel art
- The visual style uses restricted color palettes with influences from cyberpunk works.
