Our take on Some Distant Memory
The likely bounce point is the open-ended discovery of story scenes: players who need a fixed sequence may lose the thread when memories appear in the order relics are found. The non-violent format is another clear limit for anyone expecting combat.
What is Some Distant Memory?
Set 300 years after an apocalypse, this non-violent story exploration game follows archaeologist Professor Zay, Commander Ti, and ARORA, an AI that recreates human memories from scanned relics.
The group explores a pre-Collapse house preserved underground, examining its objects and reliving scenes from the lives of people who once lived there. Players can find those story moments in different orders, reading and exploring at their own pace. The memories reveal characters from past and future Earth, while mysteries include the civilization’s collapse and the house’s former residents. The story covers family, romance, friendship, grief, creativity, and loss. Its setting includes two struggling colonies, Ares and NOAH, and a planet affected by a corrosive algae bloom.
