Our take on Project RyME
The hacking premise receives much of the attention, but the game also shifts through at least a dozen genres and includes digital worlds, conversations, and minigames. That breadth may make it less focused than the opening premise suggests.
What is Project RyME?
Project RyME is a story-focused puzzle adventure about Mira, a young woman investigating her father's disappearance after an unusual old computer appears.
The investigation takes place through a simulated desktop, where players navigate windows, use a command terminal, access other computers, explore a network, and apply techniques based on real cybersecurity vulnerabilities. Conversations with allies cover clues, strategies, and anime. The game also includes digital worlds and minigames connected to the narrative, spanning at least a dozen game genres. An interactive tutorial and in-game reference materials introduce the computer-related systems for players with limited prior knowledge.
