SimulationIs Primordialis worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who enjoy designing unusual creatures through open-ended combinations
- Roguelike fans who want difficult exploration across multiple biomes
- Sandbox players interested in testing creature designs and studying enemies
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a predictable, low-difficulty progression loop may find the main mode demanding
- Players who prefer simple character setups may find the cell-combination system too involved
- Players looking for a conventional human-led adventure may not connect with its creature-focused premise
Our take on Primordialis
The focus on open-ended creature construction comes at the cost of a defined character-building path. Progress depends on experimenting with cell combinations and adapting during runs rather than following a fixed build or straightforward progression route.
What is Primordialis?
Primordialis combines creature construction with physics-based roguelike exploration.
Players assemble fish from more than 60 cell types, each with distinct properties and functions, then combine them into designs ranging from massive serpents to complex mechanisms and circuitry. The main mode follows a difficult journey through five biomes, where players encounter hand-crafted enemies created with the same creature-building system. Cell types and mutations can be discovered during the journey. Combat possibilities include venomous tentacles, electrical shocks, and exploding children. Sandbox mode provides a separate setting for testing creature designs, studying enemy biology, or building without a roguelike run.
How Primordialis plays
- 01Cell-Based Construction
- More than 60 cell types can be placed and combined to create creatures with different properties and functions.
- 02Roguelike Exploration
- The main mode sends a growing creature through five biomes filled with hand-crafted enemies.
- 03Shared Creature System
- Enemies are built with the same creature-creation system used for the player's fish.
- 04Sandbox Building
- A separate mode supports design testing, enemy study, and relaxed creature construction.
