Our take on Power Chord
The game replaces the usual lone-hero deck with a group of musicians whose cards interact during combat. Defeat also changes the available deck by removing a fallen member until revival, making band composition part of each run.
What is Power Chord?
Power Chord is a rock-themed roguelite deck-building game about battling the demon gangs of Helmoth.
Players assemble a band from a cast of musicians, with each member bringing distinct cards, gear, and playstyles. Cards from different band members can be combined to create attacks. Runs follow branching paths with battles, merchants, random encounters, and rest locations. New cards appear as the band moves from stage to stage, adding strategies and strengthening its instruments. If a musician falls in battle, that character and their cards remain unavailable until revival at a pit stop. The objective is to destroy the guitar powerful enough to reopen the rift between worlds.
How Power Chord plays
- 01Distinct Character Cards
- Each band member has an individual collection of cards, gear, and playstyle.
- 02Combined Card Attacks
- Cards belonging to different musicians can be used together against opponents.
- 03Branching Routes
- The path includes battles, merchants, random encounters, and locations for healing and revival.
- 04Temporary Character Loss
- A fallen musician and their cards stay unavailable until that character is revived at a pit stop.
Power Chord compared to similar games
Power Chord combines branching roguelite routes with cards assigned to separate musicians, whose abilities can be used together. Shogun Showdown also features turn-based combat, deck-building, upgrades, and run-based progression, but centers on positioning, attack tiles, and timed actions. The other listed alternatives do not describe the same deck-building combat scope.
