Linking battles through a campaign gives earlier victories and defeats lasting consequences, but it also reduces the independence of each engagement. Stand-alone battles remove that campaign continuity, trading persistent army readiness for separate scenarios.
What is Pike and Shot : Campaigns?
Lead armies through four campaigns set during the Thirty Years War, the English Civil War, the Great Turkish War, and a skirmish campaign.
Campaign choices play out on a strategic map, with land conditions, troop numbers, provisioning, losses over time, sieges, and damage to the economy shaping events. Tactical battles feature 20 troop types, 25 capabilities, and varied unit formations. The game includes 40 historical battles, 154 army lists, and 20 playable nations and factions. Stand-alone battles generate random scenarios such as open engagements, assaults on defended positions, defensive actions, and fights with arriving reinforcements. Other options include five difficulty levels, tactical AI, an in-game map editor, downloadable community scenarios, and multiplayer via a PBEM server.
