After a shipwreck leaves Pepper without her treasure, she uses Grinder, a drilling device, to travel through terrain and water, operate machines, and defeat enemies while searching for the stolen riches. The journey includes precise movement, leaps, and puzzles that can be solved with drill bits found along the way. Jewels and other valuables can be collected and exchanged at shops to power up Pepper, open routes on the world map, and obtain stickers for a sticker book. Mysterious beings also emerge as Pepper pursues the Narlings who took her treasure.
