Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking combat, character progression, or a conventional adventure campaign may hit a wall at the free-form environment exploration.
- Players wanting structured objectives or frequent mechanical challenges may lose interest once the audiovisual controls become the main activity.
- Users without interest in manipulating scenery and sound may find the experience too focused on sensory experimentation.
Our take on PANORAMICAL
The bounce point arrives when the initial discovery of the 15 worlds gives way to open-ended experimentation. Players expecting missions, combat, progression, or defined goals may have little structure to follow after learning how the 18 audiovisual dimensions interact.
What is PANORAMICAL?
PANORAMICAL is an interactive audiovisual game built around 15 distinct worlds.
Players alter each environment’s appearance, sound, atmosphere, and time of day, transforming settings such as mountains, valleys, forests, caves, oceans, and deserts. Every world contains 18 controllable audiovisual dimensions, with each combination producing a different sensory space. The game supports keyboard and mouse, gamepads, and MIDI controllers. Players can explore at their own pace, experiment with sound and scenery, pursue particular rhythms, or remain in a chosen landscape. Music comes from David Kanaga, with additional environments created by designers and musicians associated with games including Proteus, Dyad, FRACT, Pixeljunk Eden, Samurai Gunn, and Nuclear Throne. Screenshots and videos can be captured from within the game.
