Our take on Ocean Pressure
Rather than centering on combat or broad exploration systems, this short horror game organizes its trip around finding marked sites, scanning marine life, and keeping a fragile submarine functioning. The research tools and repair tasks shape the expedition’s routine.
What is Ocean Pressure?
Ocean Pressure is a single-player horror game about an older scientist exploring the ocean in a handmade submarine.
The mission is to locate underwater sites and collect research data. Sonar is used to find places of interest, while a scanner gathers information about underwater animals and shows the area outside the submarine. Movement requires caution because the wildlife reacts to it. The submarine can break down or catch fire during the trip, and the scientist must use a pipe wrench or fire extinguisher to address those problems. The story follows a lifelong ocean explorer who built a small submarine from personal drawings and set out to investigate locations marked on a map. The game was developed by one person.
How Ocean Pressure plays
- 01Sonar navigation
- Sonar reveals underwater locations to investigate before moving on.
- 02Submarine repairs
- Breakdowns and fires require the use of a pipe wrench or fire extinguisher.
- 03Wildlife scanning
- The scanner uses a laser to collect information about underwater fauna, which reacts to movement.
