Our take on Ninja Issen (忍者一閃)
Its defining mechanic is katana-based teleportation: throwing the sword both attacks at range and moves Kiba through the city, across elevated structures, and past traps.
What is Ninja Issen (忍者一閃)?
Ninja Issen is a retro-style platformer set in a neon-lit cyberpunk metropolis.
Players control Kiba, a rogue ninja falsely accused of killing his clan’s grand master, while he fights pursuing ninjas and other enemies. Combat centers on one-versus-many encounters using a katana for close attacks, shuriken for ranged strikes and projectile deflection, and teleportation by throwing the katana to a chosen location. Teleportation also allows movement between tall structures and across traps. Each stage includes a boss with distinct attack patterns and special mechanics. Some bosses enter a second phase after their health drops below a certain point, gaining more dangerous attacks; destroying body parts can also alter their patterns.
