Our take on Nebraska
Rather than treating horror as a sequence of threats alone, the game combines environmental physics, body-temperature management, and a character-led investigation. Its progression moves through object-based puzzles and uncertain relationships inside an underground facility, giving survival systems and narrative discovery equal weight.
What is Nebraska?
Nebraska is a story-focused survival horror game set in 2020.
A journalist researching the American Midwest runs out of fuel in rural Nebraska and enters the remains of a deserted horror attraction while seeking assistance. The entrance closes behind him, leading to an underground facility containing evidence of disturbing experiments. Exploration, environmental interaction, and puzzle solving form the main progression. An advanced physics system lets players manipulate many objects and use them in certain puzzles. The game also tracks body temperature: excessive cold can cause hypothermia, while excessive heat can cause heat stroke. Other characters appear during the journey and may assist or betray the journalist. The story includes fear, sadness, and happiness.
How Nebraska plays
- 01Physics-based interaction
- Objects throughout the environment can be manipulated and used to solve some puzzles.
- 02Temperature management
- The journalist must avoid conditions that could lead to hypothermia or heat stroke.
- 03Story-focused horror
- The investigation follows characters whose intentions may support or obstruct progress through the facility.
- 04Underground investigation
- Exploration leads from an abandoned attraction into a concealed site connected to disturbing experiments.
