We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who want shooter missions with extensive weapon and character customization

- Players who enjoy combining mods into unusual combat builds
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a quiet or non-combat-focused experience may find the repeated alien battles too intense.
- Players who prefer fixed equipment and simple progression may find the upgrade-grid system too involved.
- Players looking for a solo-only game may not need its four-player co-op structure.
Our take on Mycopunk
The store presentation gives substantial attention to the upgrade system and co-op, while the narrative premise and between-mission activities receive less emphasis. The core structure remains mission-based shooting, with the dropship serving as an intermission space rather than the main setting.
What is Mycopunk?
Mycopunk is a mission-based looter shooter about a squad of robot exterminators investigating a planet-wide fungal disaster.
Players choose futuristic weapons and power tools, then modify them through a grid-based system that accepts mission-earned upgrades. Weapon and character builds can specialize in roles such as healing support, defensive equipment, or explosive attacks. Missions involve fighting groups of fungal enemies that can corrupt and use planetary technology. Enemies may drop items that other enemies can take. Between missions, the squad returns to an orbital dropship where players can use activities, spend time with companions, and learn more about the setting. The game supports four-player co-op.
How Mycopunk plays
- 01Grid-Based Upgrades
- Mission rewards provide mods that can be combined and stacked within weapon upgrade grids.
- 02Four-Player Co-Op
- Missions can be played with a group of up to four players.
- 03Enemy Item Theft
- Fallen enemies can drop items that another enemy may collect.
- 04Orbital Dropship
- The squad can return between missions to access recreational activities and interact with Roachard Cox.
Mycopunk compared to similar games
Mycopunk combines mission-based shooting, four-player co-op, enemy item drops, and grid-based weapon customization. Abyssus also offers multiplayer shooting and roguelite progression, but its description focuses on hand-crafted levels, tactical combat, and refitting brine-powered weapons with ancient technologies.
