Our take on Moons of Madness
The game shifts cosmic horror from familiar occult or isolated-earth settings to a functioning Mars research outpost. Scientific equipment, station maintenance, and a workplace assignment provide the initial structure before supernatural events undermine the boundaries between technology, perception, and reality.
What is Moons of Madness?
Moons of Madness is a first-person, story-driven adventure set at Trailblazer Alpha, a Mars research outpost built to determine the nature of a mysterious signal.
Players take the role of engineer Shane Newehart, whose assignment is to keep the station operating until a transport ship arrives with a new team. Malfunctioning systems, mist in the greenhouse, and the absence of the crew from an EVA mission create a growing crisis. The game combines exploration of the outpost with obstacles involving computers, electrical systems, rovers, solar panels, and other equipment. Visions, hallucinations, and monstrous apparitions introduce supernatural dread as Shane questions what is real. The setting also extends beyond the base to the darker side of Mars.
