Our take on Monster Train 2
Rather than placing battles on a flat field, the game makes the train itself a three-level defensive structure. Run planning also extends beyond cards through Pyre Hearts, train parts, and separate challenge modes, combining deckbuilding with vertical defense and train customization.
What is Monster Train 2?
Monster Train 2 is a roguelike strategy game about defending a Pyre across three vertical train levels.
Choose from five new clans, recruit units, upgrade cards, and combine Room and Equipment Cards to shape each run. The story follows former angels and demons who join forces against Titans controlling Heaven. Between runs, the Covenant Outpost provides access to core features and character interactions. Pyre Hearts add run customization and story progression, while Dimensional Challenges offer handcrafted scenarios, Mutators, and cosmetic rewards. Daily Challenges use modified runs with Mutators, global and friend competition, and skill-based leaderboards. Train parts, random events, enemy records, collection goals, and an escalating Rail journey add further progression and repeatable challenges.
