StrategyIs Metal March worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Turn-based strategy players who enjoy planning around distinct unit movement and attack patterns
- Card-game fans who want troop and spell combinations to shape battles
- Players who like expedition objectives involving relic collection and a race to a destination
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want battles without positional planning may hit a wall when each troop's movement and attack behavior must be weighed.
- Players who prefer a fixed roster and tactics may find race selection, spell combinations, and relic choices add too many strategic layers.
- Players looking for a puzzle or direct-combat-focused game rather than turn-based strategy may not find that structure here.
Our take on Metal March
The likely bounce point is the battle-planning system: players must account for distinct troop movement and attack patterns, then factor in spell choices and casting order. Those who want to act without weighing positioning and combinations may hit that wall before the expedition's relic decisions come into play.
What is Metal March?
Metal March combines chess-like, turn-based battles with card-game elements.
Choose troops from 6 races, each with different strengths and weaknesses, and account for their individual movement and attack patterns when positioning them. Magic can protect or strengthen troops, or attack enemies; the spells and their order shape each battle strategy. During an expedition, collect relics that provide effects such as increasing income, preparing benefits before a fight, or changing troop and magic strength.
The number of active relics is limited, but they can be replaced outside battle. The objective is to reach the relics at the World's Roof before rival forces. The game includes 7 troop types and 11 magic types per race, along with 27 shared troop types, 20 shared magic types, and more than 40 relics.
How Metal March plays
- 01Race-based forces
- The 6 races have distinct strengths and weaknesses, which can be addressed with skills and magic from other races.
- 02Unit movement patterns
- Each troop has its own movement and attack behavior, making positioning part of battle planning.
- 03Relic effects
- Relics can change expedition income, provide pre-battle effects, or alter troop and magic strength.
- 04Magic combinations
- Spell selection and casting order can change how a force performs in battle.
