SimulationIs Megatect worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who enjoy building custom arenas and challenge maps rather than following a fixed campaign
- Small groups that want to construct and test multiplayer spaces together
- Creative players interested in wiring doors, platforms, lasers, and other interactive devices
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a finished, content-heavy game may hit the early-access state and limited current scope
- Users who want public matchmaking may stop at the direct-connect setup, which currently requires port forwarding
- Players looking for a conventional racing or sports game may find the focus on building and configuring arenas instead
- Users who prefer passive play may not enjoy the hands-on map construction and puzzle setup
Our take on Megatect
The bounce point arrives before the first shared match: connecting through direct IP currently requires port forwarding. Players who cannot configure that network setup may be limited to solo construction, even though multiplayer building and testing are central parts of the current feature set.
What is Megatect?
Megatect is a multiplayer map-building game for creating challenge maps, arenas, sports, and other playable spaces.
Grids can be built alone or with friends through direct-connect IP, which currently requires port forwarding. Builders place blocks, spawn points, jump pads, teleporters, guns, pickups, and ammunition spawners. Wires connect interactive elements such as doors, buttons, platforms, and lasers to form puzzles. A completed grid can be launched in Game Mode for matches with friends. World settings include time of day, world color, and game properties, while character customization includes colors and armor pieces. Megatect is in early access, and the developer describes updates and additional content as ongoing.
