Our take on Marsmare: Alienation
The resource limits make combat unforgiving: a single clumsy move can mean returning to a checkpoint. That tension comes at the cost of a forgiving pace, especially while exploring areas with traps and several enemy types.
What is Marsmare: Alienation?
Marsmare: Alienation is a 2D-style retro adventure about an Earthling abducted by aliens.
Explore an underground base and caves on Mars, search for artifacts, and navigate traps and gaps. Combat includes Martian scientists and soldiers, robotic spiders, drones, and cave creatures; limited resources make careless moves send the character back to a checkpoint. Find a blaster, spacesuit, and jetpack to gain abilities and reach areas that were previously inaccessible. Escape requires finding the alien spacecraft and collecting energy crystals and fuel. Checkpoints save progress. The game offers classic and updated full-color pixel graphics modes, plus 10 achievements. It was first developed for the ZX Spectrum and later received a PC version.
