Our take on Mandemon
Its branching structure trades a single, tightly bounded narrative for a mystery spread across several outcomes. Reaching the full picture requires returning to different routes, so the story's structure favors investigation over a one-pass reading experience.
What is Mandemon?
Mandemon is a suspense visual novel set in a fictionalized Japan, where decaying school buildings, strange events, and Mandemon legends surround the story.
The narrative follows questions of identity, deception, trust, and humanity as the player investigates what happened to Kisaragi. Choices influence the character's fate and open different story outcomes. A flowchart system tracks the narrative structure, while multiple endings provide separate pieces of the mystery. Live2D characters accompany the presentation, including a girl associated with a haunting piano scene and the Mandemon legend. The story uses misty school settings, recurring rain and moonlight imagery, and intertwined personal relationships to build its atmosphere.
