Our take on Making History: The Calm & the Storm
Rather than narrowing WWII strategy to battlefield commands, the game treats national power as an interconnected system. Industry, infrastructure, research, diplomacy, and supplies shape military choices, while simultaneous turns replace the slower sequence often associated with turn-based strategy.
What is Making History: The Calm & the Storm?
This turn-based strategy game places players in a researched WWII setting with more than 80 nations and over 800 regions.
Each country has its own economic, military, diplomatic, ideological, and technological characteristics. Players develop industry, infrastructure, trade, aid, research, and armed forces while forming or breaking alliances and responding to changing international events. Combat considers supplies, reinforcements, geography, and different approaches such as assaults or holding actions. Six scenarios cover moments including the fall of France, Pearl Harbor, D-Day, and the Sudeten crisis. Eight major nations are specifically listed as playable. Multiplayer supports up to eight additional participants, with simultaneous turns and in-game chat. An included Scenario Editor supports modifying existing scenarios or creating new ones.
