Our take on MakeThatMoney
Players who dislike deadline-driven progression may hit a wall at the central win condition: reaching millionaire status before John dies. The timed day-and-night cycle and the need to choose work, purchases, and other income sources put that pressure into the routine rather than leaving wealth-building open-ended.
What is MakeThatMoney?
Players can work and request promotions, buy houses to live in or rent out, and purchase businesses, some of which need stocking.
A day-and-night cycle runs in five-minute periods, with lighting changing for one minute between them. Other activities include taking a bank loan for a house or degree, buying items from a store, and playing slots at a nightclub. Civilians may be robbed at night, and police chase John if he has a fine. Random crates found around town can be opened with a crowbar; their contents can be sold at a pawn shop.
