Our take on MÅRD
The game moves horror investigation from enclosed locations into an open northern wilderness. Navigation, a map and compass, a protective cabin, wildlife, natural darkness, and a dog companion replace a more conventional focus on isolated indoor searching.
What is MÅRD?
Investigate why a detective’s late father spent his final months alone in a cabin in northern Sweden.
MÅRD combines first- and third-person action, exploration, and horror in an open-world wilderness. Search the cabin and other important areas for notes, books, and clues connected to an old mythological legend. Speck, a German shorthaired pointer, can alert the detective to nearby danger, carry important items, and assist with obstacles. A rough map and compass support navigation where landmarks are scarce.
Wildlife may attack, so weapons and ammunition are needed for defence. The cabin offers shelter and a lookout point, although its door will not hold forever. Day and night change as the story progresses, and a flashlight is needed in some dark areas.
How MÅRD plays

- 04Clue Investigation

- 05Wildlife Defence

- 06Natural Light Changes
- The passage of day and night affects exploration, with some locations remaining very dark during daytime.
