Is Lords of the Realm worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Strategy players who want a medieval campaign combining administration and combat
- Solo players interested in negotiating, betraying, and defeating AI-controlled rivals
- Players who enjoy alternating between seasonal planning and real-time battlefield control
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a purely turn-based experience may bounce off the switch to real-time battles.
- Players who want a focused combat game may find the farming, taxation, trade, and political management too involved.
- Players looking for LAN or online multiplayer will not find those modes here.
Our take on Lords of the Realm
The likely bounce point arrives when seasonal administration gives way to real-time combat. Players comfortable with farms, taxes, trade, and alliances may still hit a wall when battlefield decisions must be made live rather than during the kingdom-management turns.
What is Lords of the Realm?
Set in England in 1268, this strategy game combines seasonal, turn-based kingdom management with real-time battles.
Begin as the ruler of a small county and expand by managing farms, taxation, crop rotation, trade, transport, and security. Negotiations, alliances, betrayal, and rivalry shape the struggle against up to five AI opponents. Castles can be fortified with features such as moats, towers, drawbridges, and keeps. After preparing the realm, armies can march into rival territories for tactical engagements. The campaign goal is to unify the land, destroy competing nobles, and claim the crown. LAN and online multiplayer are unavailable.
