Our take on Link
Instead of focusing only on battles or a single hero, the game combines survivor management, heated base construction, crafting, research, resource scavenging, and turn-based combat within a roguelike survival loop.
What is Link?
Link is a strategy game with roguelike elements about a group of soldiers stranded on a hostile arctic planet after a fleet-wide breakdown.
Manage survivors, each with distinct bonuses, while defending a shelter from extraterrestrial creatures. Expand the wreck into a functioning base by adding bedrooms, workshops, plant-growing areas, and heating for its rooms. Gather materials, create equipment, research technologies, and search the planet for resources. Encounters with alien life forms use deep, turn-based combat. New characters can be unlocked for later playthroughs, adding persistent progression between attempts. The central objective is to keep the group alive until rescue arrives.
How Link plays
- 01Survivor Management
- Each member of the stranded group contributes a distinct bonus to the settlement.
- 02Base Development
- The wreck can be expanded with sleeping quarters, workshops, growing areas, and heated rooms.
- 03Crafting And Research
- Resources support item creation and the discovery of technologies needed for survival.
- 04Turn-Based Combat
- Expeditions include encounters with swarms of alien creatures in turn-based battles.
- 05Unlockable Characters
- Additional characters become available for subsequent attempts.
Link compared to similar games
Shogun Showdown also combines turn-based combat with roguelike progression, but centers on attack tiles, skill choices, deck building, and a final fight against the Shogun. Link adds survivor management, base construction, crafting, research, resource gathering, and alien encounters. Back to the Dawn focuses on prison escape, investigation, crime, and survival rather than arctic settlement management.
