StrategyIs Lifecraft worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Simulation players who want to manage interconnected biological systems rather than a conventional city or economy
- Strategy players who enjoy balancing energy, transport, growth, and internal conditions
- Players interested in evolving from a single cell into an organism with digestion, circulation, and neural functions
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a fixed, simple ruleset may find the increasing number of biological subsystems demanding to manage
- Players who prefer immediate action may not enjoy the gradual progression from a single cell through increasingly complex organism systems
- Players looking for a narrative-focused RPG or character-driven adventure
- Players seeking a military or empire-scale strategy game
Our take on Lifecraft
The defining structure is biological escalation: control begins with one cell and expands into a network of cooperating subsystems whose energy, transport, and survival needs must remain balanced.
What is Lifecraft?
Lifecraft is a survival simulation that begins with a single cell in a primordial broth.
Resources are absorbed and converted into energy, while the organism expands by adding structures and tissues. As evolution introduces systems such as digestion, circulation, respiration, and neural control, each subsystem must be managed alongside the others. Energy production, material transport, oxygen, carbon dioxide, temperature, and pH all require regulation. The organism can also face viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites, wounds, and toxic waste. Later development includes pumps, blood vessels, immune defenses, kidneys, teeth, a stomach, intestines, sensors, and logic-based automation. Growth therefore increases both the organism’s capabilities and the number of processes that must remain balanced.
How Lifecraft plays
- 01Cellular energy production
- Energy can be generated through glycolysis and mitochondrial respiration, then used to power structures within and beyond the cell.
- 02Subsystem management
- Digestion, circulation, respiration, immunity, and other biological processes must operate together as the organism develops.
- 03Organism expansion
- The body grows in chunks by producing scaffold and tissue materials, creating space for additional structures and resources.
- 04Internal transport
- Larger organisms use pumps, arteries, veins, and capillaries to move materials when microtubules are insufficient.
- 05Homeostasis control
- Temperature, oxygen, and pH must be kept within suitable ranges for the organism to survive.
- 06Biological threats
- The immune system addresses external dangers including viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites, while wounds require healing.
- 07Neural automation
- Sensors and logic can be used to establish rules that automate management of the organism’s subsystems.
