Our take on XenoBloom
Instead of centering combat, objectives, or failure, the game makes observation and ecosystem change the main structure. Cellular automata determine whether life persists, while the player adjusts conditions and watches the consequences across five modes.
What is XenoBloom?
XenoBloom is a creative ecosystem simulation in which players care for an alien biome.
Plants, bacteria, fungi, and animals develop according to environmental conditions and cellular automata. Players can nurture life, harvest it to produce new forms, alter selection and survival rules, and shape the world. Water, sunlight, oxygen, and other factors affect which organisms live or die. Five modes are available: normal, experimental, observational, ecological, and deduction. The deduction mode asks players to answer questions based on ecosystem observations. There is no fail condition. The game also includes local co-op, selective evolution, and an original soundtrack.
How XenoBloom plays
- 01Cellular Automata Growth
- Plant survival is determined by cellular automata rather than direct control alone.
- 02Environmental Conditions
- Water, sunlight, oxygen, and other factors can be changed to affect living organisms.
- 03Five Game Modes
- Normal, experimental, observational, ecological, and deduction modes provide different ways to examine the ecosystem.
- 04Local Cooperative Play
- A second player can join the garden through local co-op.
- 05Selective Evolution
- Players choose which life-form develops next.
- 06Deduction Questions
- The deduction mode uses questions based on observations of the ecosystem.
