RPGIs Liberte worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Roguelite players who want card-based combat with multiple weapon styles
- Players interested in alternate-history settings mixed with body horror
- Story-focused players who want alliances, political intrigue, and branching routes
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a straightforward action game without deck construction or run-based decisions may hit a wall when building a card setup.
- Players who prefer light or realistic themes may bounce off the body horror, curses, Eldritches, and assassination material.
- Players looking for a short, linear campaign may find the many available paths and nearly 40-hour scope excessive.
Our take on Liberte
The bounce point arrives during deck construction and roguelike runs: players who want direct action must also manage cards, alliances, curses, and route decisions. The body-horror setting creates another sharp filter for players seeking a conventional historical adventure.
What is Liberte?
Play as Rene, an ordinary Parisian drawn into a civil war involving four factions and Lady Bliss, an otherworldly invader.
Collect and combine more than 100 Skills and Talents cards to shape combat, using guns, blades, axes, a guitar, or songs. Rene can also take the forms of Master Hunter Victor, Tribal Warrior Flea, or Revolt Leader Ana through a skin-shifting ability. Roguelike runs include political maneuvering, alliances, attempted assassinations, dangerous enemies, and curses from the Bliss, a hidden netherworld guarded by Eldritches. Choices open different paths through the story, which offers nearly 40 hours across its available routes.
