Souls of Blades follows a mystery set in a spiritual realm after an awakening and its destruction.
Exploration uncovers what happened to the owner of a famous sword and why its architecture and mysterious island became ruins. Defeating named swordsmen can yield cores that change the protagonist’s form and fighting style. Different magic weapons can be collected and combined with these cores to alter combat effects. Battles allow switching between two equipped cores and using four quickly selected weapons in combos. Vertical spaces, varied terrain, and movement abilities create alternate routes through levels. Enemies have distinct abilities, including aerial pursuit, adding different combat situations across the ruined realm.
