Good fit- Single-player players who want medieval settlement building combined with character progression

- Players interested in inheritance systems, troop preparation, and consequences for deaths in battle
Skip it if you…

- Players looking for an existing multiplayer experience, since multiplayer is described as a future intention
Our take on Legacy
The listing presents a broad path from tribal beginnings to a futuristic space age, but the current offer is a pre-alpha single-player game. Planned additions, future multiplayer, and later expansions are part of the pitch rather than current scope.
What is Legacy?
Build a kingdom from a primitive starting point while exploring, gathering resources, crafting equipment, researching technologies, and constructing structures.
Citizens can receive jobs and orders, but they cannot be directly controlled. Character traits pass through genealogy and training, while leadership can continue through an heir or a selected NPC if the current ruler dies. The game combines city building, combat, diplomacy, exploration, and character development. Troops can be trained and equipped for expeditions against larger enemies and bosses, with deaths carrying lasting consequences because preparation takes time. A year in the game takes about three hours of play. The store presents the game as a pre-alpha project with planned additions, including buildings, races, enemies, bosses, expansions, and eventual multiplayer.
How Legacy plays
- 01Kingdom Construction
- Resources, structures, laws, edicts, and technologies shape the developing settlement.
- 02Inherited Traits
- Genealogy and training transfer character traits to later members of the ruling line.
- 03Citizen Assignments
- Non-player characters can be given occupations, commands, and clothing without direct control.
- 04Troop Expeditions
- Trained and equipped citizens can join parties for exploration, combat, and encounters with bosses.
- 05Succession System
- A replacement NPC can become the playable leader if the current ruler dies without naming an heir.
Legacy compared to similar games
Force of Nature combines exploration, resource gathering, crafting, and management across more than 10 zones, while Legacy centers on ruling a growing kingdom, succession, genealogy, and citizen assignments. Survivalist: Invisible Strain focuses on colony survival, character relationships, and conversation in a zombie-apocalypse setting; Legacy instead uses fantasy kingdom building, technology research, diplomacy, and troop-led expeditions.
