Is KINGDOMS worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- RPG players who want to choose activities instead of following only a fixed path
- Simulation fans interested in NPC-driven settlement development
- Players who want exploration, combat, trading, construction, and management in one game
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly directed story may bounce off the broad, open-ended activity structure.
- Those wanting predictable character behavior may hit a wall when NPC actions vary with goals, traits, and circumstances.
- Players looking for a combat-focused game may find its scope divided among exploration, trade, construction, and management.
Our take on KINGDOMS
The bounce point comes when the open-ended structure replaces a clearly directed route. Players who need explicit progression may stall when choosing between exploration, combat, trading, opening businesses, creating settlements, or managing kingdoms.
What is KINGDOMS?
KINGDOMS is a medieval role-playing game set in an open world generated anew for each game.
Non-player characters pursue personal aims and respond to traits including temperament, motivation, reputation, and abilities. Their choices continually alter settlements, bringing new homes, inns, stores, and other structures into existence. Players may venture into underground locations and ancient sites, confront creatures or outlaws, barter with inhabitants, run businesses such as shops, taverns, and manufactories, or establish settlements and realms. These creations can be administered, while other characters can instead receive assistance. The game leaves routes, activities, and relationships largely open, allowing players to decide how to engage with the environment and its population.
How KINGDOMS plays
- 01Procedural World
- The game generates a medieval open world with changing settlements and locations.
- 02Individual NPC Goals
- Characters pursue personal aims shaped by traits including temperament, motivation, reputation, and skills.
- 03Changing Settlements
- NPC decisions determine which new houses, taverns, shops, and other structures are built.
- 04Kingdom Management
- Players can establish settlements or kingdoms and manage what they create.
KINGDOMS compared to similar games
Force of Nature also combines action, adventure, RPG, strategy, and management, but its description focuses on exploring more than 10 zones, gathering and mining resources, and crafting weapons. KINGDOMS instead centers on NPC goals, changing settlements, trading, businesses, and kingdom management in a procedurally generated medieval world.
