Our take on Kaiju
Instead of following a game structure built around objectives, challenge, or progression, Kaiju turns system sound or microphone input into real-time visual effects. Its focus is reactive audiovisual display rather than play.
What is Kaiju?
Kaiju displays 2D and 3D visualizations that respond in real time to system audio.
The input can come from music or video streaming, games, movies, or voices in VOIP. A microphone can be used instead, allowing voice and room ambience to drive the visuals. The collection ranges from wave-like effects to spectra and fractal imagery. Themes and effect modulation are included. Kaiju does not record audio and uses Windows audio APIs commonly used for noise cancellation; it does not require special permissions.
How Kaiju plays
- 01System audio input
- Audio from streaming, games, movies, and VOIP can drive the visuals as it plays.
- 02Microphone input
- Voice and the surrounding room ambience can serve as the audio source.
- 03Effect themes
- Themes and modulation let users vary the visual effects.
- 042D and 3D visuals
- The collection includes wave-like, spectrum-style, and fractal imagery.
