Our take on Johnny Chainsaw
Instead of giving platforming its usual jump command, the game makes the chainsaw and level geometry the basis for movement. Its two-mode structure also separates narrative decisions from uninterrupted mechanical play, letting the same unusual traversal support either story progression or timed runs.
What is Johnny Chainsaw?
Johnny Chainsaw is a single-player puzzle platformer built around movement without a jump button.
Players use the environment and a chainsaw to cross gaps, overcome obstacles, and complete 40 short levels. The game includes six boss fights, collectibles, character sheets, achievements, a death counter, a timer, and quick resets after character death. Story mode follows a discovery at the planet’s core, a power struggle, and changes affecting Corut’s mechanics and organics. Player decisions determine how the conflict is resolved. Standard mode removes story elements for uninterrupted platforming, including play suited to streaming and speedrunning. Story mode also contains narrative scenes and additional story material.
