Our take on Island Crusaders
The defining structure is indirect control: squads navigate and fight on their own after receiving movement orders, making placement and unit choice the central tactical decisions.
What is Island Crusaders?
Island Crusaders is a tactical real-time strategy game about defending an island from enemy waves.
Players manage resources, create squads, and direct units across 20 handcrafted levels set in four themed worlds. Soldiers move and attack independently after receiving destinations, leaving unit selection and positioning as the main battlefield decisions. Nine unit types become available as progress continues, each with distinct strengths and weaknesses. Expert Mode reuses all 20 stages with nighttime conditions, limited visibility, and tougher enemy appearances, while allowing previously unlocked units. The game combines a colorful visual style with violent combat and requires an army to be assembled and deployed against incoming forces.
How Island Crusaders plays
- 01Unit progression
- Nine distinct unit types become available as the campaign advances, without microtransactions.
- 02Autonomous soldiers

- 03Expert Mode
- The 20 campaign stages can be replayed at night with reduced visibility and more difficult enemy spawns.
- 04Four themed worlds
- The campaign is divided across four settings with different visual themes.
Island Crusaders compared to similar games
