Our take on Until We Die
The task-assignment premise may suggest a managed workforce, but workers do not take initiative on their own. Much of the base routine therefore depends on Ivan moving around and issuing orders, alongside the combat and defense emphasized by the premise.
What is Until We Die?
Until We Die is a side-scrolling base-defense strategy game set in a subway station after a meteorite brings mutants.
Players control Ivan, move around the base, and assign work to people who do not act on their own. The goal is to survive about 30 in-game days as attacks grow from small groups of creatures to a large mutant horde. The run can end sooner if Ivan dies or the power generator is destroyed.
Base work includes building and researching fortifications, gathering supplies, and producing food from mushrooms and other sources. Players can also send expeditions to the surface and attack mutant lairs to open land for farms and tents. The game combines direct movement and combat with task assignment and base management.
