What is Insects Awaken?
Insects Awaken combines visual-novel storytelling with puzzles during the 1940s Republic of China period.
Chen Shan is drawn into espionage as he travels between Chongqing and Shanghai. On maps of both cities, players choose places where events occur, read narrative scenes, collect evidence, and link developments within each day. Days can be restarted to revisit earlier actions. Relationships, decisions, and gathered information shape branching narratives with 4 principal routes, 8 true endings, and 50 death outcomes. A black cat offers direction during investigation and deduction. The story presents viewpoints from a Shanghai tipster, a blind captive, an undercover Communist Party agent, and a surgeon.
