Our take on Rubbings
The defining detail is its split investigation: the protagonist enters strange folklore accounts in first person, then returns to the village to compare those stories with evidence from reality.
What is Rubbings?
Play as Bian Chenglin, a folklore magazine editor who follows four anonymous rubbings to the hidden village of Lengzheng.
The village is linked to missing travelers, strange rituals, and several deaths from decades ago. After settling there, the protagonist discovers a chronicle containing unsettling accounts, including stories about paper brides and a blood-colored village. The game alternates between first-person experiences within these accounts and investigations conducted in the village. A deduction notebook organizes clues from both sides of the case, while phone calls with magazine colleagues provide additional information. As the Zhenling Festival approaches, the protagonist examines the villagers’ concealed plans and the connection between the stories, the village’s secrets, and the four rubbings.
