ActionIs I wanna be The Cat worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players of I Wanna Be the Guy fan games who want changing roguelite platforming runs
- Groups seeking online races with up to 8 participants
- Players who enjoy hard-mode unlocks followed by puzzle, combat, and resource-management challenges
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking forgiving progression may stop at the solo mode reset after all 100 lives are lost.
- Players who prefer a fixed level sequence may bounce off changing layouts, objects, and enemy encounters between runs.
- Players wanting only platforming may not want the separate racing and resource-management modes.
Our take on I wanna be The Cat
The first major bounce point is solo mode's finite-life structure: spending all 100 lives sends the run back to the beginning. Magic Tower adds another gate, opening only after a hard-mode completion, so players who do not reach that requirement will not access it.
What is I wanna be The Cat?
I wanna be The Cat is a roguelite platformer inspired by I Wanna Be the Guy fan games.
Each playthrough changes the levels, objects, and enemies through world generation, using more than 2000+ community-created levels. Players can adjust the difficulty during a run. Solo mode provides 100 lives; losing them all returns the player to the beginning. Shops offer objects, skills, and additional lives, while permanent upgrades become available after a playthrough.
The game includes 12 bosses. Race mode supports up to 8 players in seeded or randomly generated competitions with different difficulty settings. Magic Tower mode unlocks after the game is beaten on hard mode and combines key-and-lock puzzles, combat, and resource management across a climb lasting more than 5 hours.
