Instead of ending with the main adventure, Castaway turns completion into a second format: a 50-floor tower with escalating trials. Its difficulty range also departs from a single expected challenge level, moving from no-enemy play to an explicitly unfair setting.
What is Castaway?
Castaway is a pixel-art action adventure about Martin, whose spaceship crashes on an uncharted island after hostile creatures take his dog.
The main Story mode follows a concise rescue journey through three dungeons, where weapons also support puzzle solving: the sword favors speed, the pickaxe delivers greater force, and the grappling hook provides extra mobility. Defeating three bosses unlocks Survivor mode, a 50-floor tower with progressively harder challenges. Difficulty options include a pacifist setting without enemies, an invincible mode, and an unfair mode. A speedrun mode supports attempts to finish the game as quickly as possible. The game uses 2D retro visuals and chiptune music.
