Our take on Helltown
The store presentation foregrounds the remake, monsters, and town secrets, while the playable structure is more specific: deliver mail, talk with residents, investigate clues, then flee and hide when danger appears. The five endings add narrative variation, but the listing does not frame the game as combat-driven.
What is Helltown?
Set in 1959, Helltown casts the player as a postman delivering mail in Little Vale, a seemingly pleasant town concealing unnatural secrets.
Players speak with residents, explore the town, and search for clues about its inhabitants and a mysterious woman appearing in dreams. When monsters emerge, survival depends on running away and hiding rather than confronting them. The game presents a first-person horror adventure structure with sinister locations, environmental exploration, dialogue, and five possible endings. The Revival Update adds new character models and animations, revised environments and level design, altered gameplay mechanics, additional dialogue, a changed storyline, and a new soundtrack by Ockeroid.
