Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking real-time combat may bounce off the turn-based battle structure
- Players who want a narrow ruleset may hit a wall when terrain, unit traits, movement types, zone control, and abilities interact
- Players looking for a non-fantasy military setting may not fit the mythical world and demonic factions
Our take on Hell
Players who prefer simple turn-based encounters may bounce off the battlefield systems first, when terrain, movement types, zone control, support units, traits, and special abilities all begin shaping each maneuver.
What is Hell?
Hell is a turn-based tactical strategy game set in the fantasy land of Gilrand.
Players choose between the Order of Radiance and the Demons of Hell, then command units across forests, swamps, and infernal landscapes. Battles use terrain properties, movement and unit types, zone control, support units, traits, and special abilities. Units gain experience through successful attacks and defensive actions, allowing them to improve their core characteristics. The single-player campaign contains 20 levels across two faction campaigns, with objectives including defending bases, capturing key points, and destroying opposing forces. Skirmish maps and online multiplayer support matches against friends or other players, including cross-platform multiplayer between PC and iOS.
How Hell plays

- 02Layered Battlefield Tactics
- Terrain, zone control, support units, movement types, traits, and special abilities affect troop positioning and combat.
- 03Unit Progression
- Units earn experience through successful attacks and defensive actions, then gain levels that improve core characteristics.
- 04Varied Mission Goals
- Missions can require holding bases, taking strategic points, or eliminating all opposing forces.
- 05Online Multiplayer
- Players can host or join matches on a selection of multiplayer maps against friends or other players.
Hell compared to similar games
Hell focuses on fantasy turn-based battles between two factions, with unit progression, terrain effects, zone control, campaign missions, and online multiplayer. Men of War: Assault Squad covers large-scale World War II combat with direct, hands-on control of units, while Xenonauts centers on defending Cold War-era Earth with small squads and recovering alien technology. Shogun Showdown instead combines turn-based positioning with attack-tile upgrades, combo building, skills, and roguelike progression.
