We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Mecha action fans who want a campaign alongside combat challenges
- Players who prefer unlocking and customizing different mechs over using a single machine
- Friends looking for local split-screen mech battles rather than online-only multiplayer
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a slow-paced campaign may find the emphasis on fast battles a poor match.
- Those looking for a campaign with many environments beyond action-platforming missions may find its 18-level structure limiting.
- Players seeking a primarily cooperative multiplayer game may not find the described PvP modes a fit.
Our take on HARDCORE MECHA
The campaign’s 18 levels sit alongside several other modes and progression systems, so the store page’s emphasis on a broad mech roster and battle challenges gives less attention to the campaign’s scale.
What is HARDCORE MECHA?
HARDCORE MECHA is a 2D action platformer with a campaign spanning 8 chapters and 18 levels.
Battles take place in settings including mines, underwater areas, cities, and space, with more than 50 enemy mecha types. Some missions let the pilot leave the mech to move on foot. Between missions, players can develop mechs, improve their attributes, and equip weapons and mods. The game also has survival battles against waves of enemies, with bosses appearing as the waves progress; battles award simulation points and gear chests. Players can unlock 42 mechs through upgrades or by reaching certain waves. Multiplayer includes online PvP and local split-screen play. The campaign’s animated scene transitions total 40 minutes and include voice acting.
